Slimline sliders on a rear extension

A rear extension on a 1930s semi in Timperley or Sale, or a newer house in Hale Barns, is often built so the garden is the view. Slimline aluminium sliders keep the frame thin where the panels meet, so the closed door still reads as a wide pane of glass.

We supply and fit AluK's Infinium sliding door. AluK says it "brings together indoor and outdoor living spaces in exquisite harmony". Large panes need a sound opening, so at the survey we check the steel or the lintel and tell you straight if your builder needs to do work first. Frames can be one colour or dual colour. Multi-point locking comes as standard.

This is a step on from a standard aluminium slider, and it is a different door from a bi-fold. French doors suit a smaller opening that should still open fully. Our own fitting team does the work after the free survey.

Questions

Is slimline worth it over a standard slider?

Choose slimline when the point of the extension is the view, and a standard slider when you want a simpler in-line door. We show you both at the survey, on the opening we have measured, and you pick.

Will our extension's steel take a big pane?

We check the steel or the lintel at the survey. If the opening needs work first, we say so, and that work is for your builder. We do not fit a wide pane into a lintel that will not carry it.

Can slimline doors go on a corner?

A corner is a different opening from a straight run. We look at both walls and the steel at the survey. If a slimline slider is the wrong door there, we will say so and talk about a bi-fold instead.

Do slimline sliders let in draughts?

The door is meant to seal when it is closed and locked. Multi-point locking comes as standard. If you feel a draught on an existing door, send a photo and we will look at the frame and the seals at the survey.
