Windows and Doors in Ringway

What kind of homes are in Ringway?

Ringway was a farming parish. Most of its land now sits under Manchester Airport, the M56 and the newer warehouse sites, and at the 2011 census only about a hundred people lived here. What is left is a cluster of houses and farms around Sunbank Lane and Mill Lane, with the Romper pub and the 1894 church of St Mary, now the Ringway Life Building, across the new Wilmslow Road. The houses are brick farmhouses, cottages and a few later detached houses on large plots.

Do I need planning permission for new windows in Ringway?

Some Ringway buildings are listed, Yewtree House on Sunbank Lane among them, so we look up the list entry before we suggest uPVC. Ringway is part of Manchester, not Trafford, and the fields around it are Green Belt. On an unlisted house, a window that looks like the old one does not usually need an application. This page is about the houses. It is not airport work.

Sunbank Lane, Mill Lane and the farms between Hale Barns and the airport boundary. Hale Barns and Ashley have their own pages.

Choosing windows and doors for a Ringway home

Brick farmhouses usually suit a flush casement in a heritage colour. A later house can take a standard casement, still A+ rated with 28mm argon-filled double glazing. Bedrooms under the flight path can have acoustic glass on that side, specified room by room rather than for the whole house.

What we plan for in Ringway

Composite doors have an Ultion lock and a multi-point locking system. A farm back door can be a stable-door style where it suits the building, and French doors go to the garden on the later houses. We will tell you how long your job will take at the survey.

Satnav tends to send vans along the new Wilmslow Road and the airport access roads. Tell us which end of Sunbank Lane you are on and where the van can pull in. If a barn or outbuilding shares the yard, say which of its windows are in the quote.

Hale Barns is the next page north. Start with flush casements and composite doors. Give us the lane and the house name. A Ringway map pin can easily land on a warehouse.
