What is a flush casement window?
On a flush casement, the opening sash sits flush with the outer frame instead of overlapping it, just like a traditional timber window. The profile is chamfered outside and sculpted inside, giving the clean lines and period proportions that suit cottages, Victorian and Edwardian homes and conservation areas.
Period details
- Dummy sashes, transoms and mullions so every pane lines up.
- Traditional monkey-tail handles and heritage hardware.
- Period colours and woodgrain finishes, including Cream, Chartwell Green and Pebble Grey, plus white foil and colour-on-white options.
- Night-vent position on standard casements.
- Ideal for bays and for keeping cherished stained glass.
Why choose uPVC over timber?
Timber shrinks, swells, warps and needs repainting. A flush casement in uPVC keeps the look of timber with none of the upkeep, and it passes all the requirements of the Building Regulations and British Standards.
Glass options
Every window is double glazed with high-performance energy-saving glass, and there are upgrades to suit each room:
- Comfort glass stops up to 56% more heat escaping than older-style double glazing.*
- Solar-control glass blocks up to 50% of the sun's heat for south and west-facing rooms and large glazed areas.*
- Acoustic glass gives around 20% better noise reduction.*
- Safety and security glass
- UV protection blocks up to 99% of UV rays to help stop furnishings fading.*
*Glass manufacturer's figures, compared with a 4/16/4 mm air-filled unit with uncoated glass.
Security
- Steel-reinforced frames and multi-point locking with anti-lift, anti-separation mushroom cams.
- Terms apply.
- Night-vent position, restrictors and fire-escape hinges where needed.
Hardware finishes
White, graphite, antique black, black, gold and chrome. Monkey-tail handles are available in period designs.
