Sliding doors on a Trafford semi

Hale and Altrincham houses often gain a kitchen across the back of a Victorian or Edwardian semi. The opening is wide, and the yard behind a Sale or Urmston house is not always deep. An aluminium sliding door keeps the glass in line, so a leaf does not swing into the room or onto the patio.

We supply and fit AluK's Optio BSC94 in-line sliding system. AluK describes it as combining "high performance with stunning design". Panels glide past each other. Two-, three- and four-pane layouts are available, with one or more sliding leaves. A dual-colour frame can be anthracite outside and white inside, which helps when the rest of a Timperley or Bowdon house stays a lighter colour indoors. Multi-point locking comes as standard.

Our own fitting team takes out the old door, fits the new frame and finishes the reveals. At the free survey we measure the opening, the lintel and the floor. Compare these with bi-fold doors and with slimline sliders if you want still less frame. Aluminium French doors are the choice when you want the leaves to open fully.

Questions

Will a sliding door fit the back of a Victorian semi?

Often, yes. Many Victorian semis in Altrincham, Hale and Urmston already have a later kitchen opening. A slider suits that opening because the leaves stay in line with the frame. We measure the opening, the lintel and the floor at the free survey before we specify the layout.

Sliding or bi-fold for a narrow Sale garden?

A narrow garden usually suits a slider. A bi-fold stack needs room at the side, and a leaf that swings out can block the only path. We look at the yard on the survey and say which door leaves the garden usable.

Can you match the colour to our existing aluminium windows?

Yes. Dual-colour frames are available, so the outside can follow the windows and the inside can stay a lighter colour. Tell us the window colour when you send the photo.

What happens at the free survey?

We measure the opening, check the lintel and the floor, and talk through pane layout and colour. You get a written quote after that visit. Our own fitting team does the work, and we tell you how long your job will take at the survey.
