Victorian and Edwardian terraces

Near Timperley village there are many older terraces with doors close to the street. A traditional composite door with a glazed top and a colour that suits the brick keeps the front smart.

Inter-war semis

Many Timperley semis have a porch or a recessed front door. A cottage or panelled door suits most of them, often with side panels where the opening is wide.

Choosing a colour

Greys, blacks and deep blues are popular. Greens and creams suit older brick. We bring samples to the survey so you can see them against your house.

Newer family homes

Newer homes in Timperley, including those on the estates towards Brooklands and Altrincham, often have wider openings and a plain brick front. A contemporary composite door with a long glass strip or a flat panel suits them, often in grey or black to match the windows.

If you are changing the windows at the same time, pick the door colour last. It is easier to see what works once you know the frame colour.

Glass and side panels

Glass lets light into a dark hall. If privacy matters, choose obscured or decorative glass. A side panel next to the door adds more light, and a top light above the door suits taller openings on older houses.
